Tweens, Teens, & Young Adults

Finding a good fit is a crucial step in finding a therapist for the teen in your life, or for yourself. As therapists for teens, it is important that we can connect to our client’s experience and “get it” as well as hold professional boundaries. Our therapists specialize in working with teenagers and the family system. We see tweens, teens, and young adults as the wide spectrum of adolescence! We use a combination of DBT skills therapy, talk therapy, EMDR and other trauma therapies, and artistic expression to connect with their worlds. We are always LGBTQIA+ friendly and open to all world-views, working with the teen and family based on their values and needs.

It isn’t easy being a tween, teen, or young adult in today’s society. The instinct is to look outside of one’s self for reassurance, but we want our youth to know that the answers come from an internal place. Therefore, we help them build self-esteem and give them the tools that they need to thrive in the world. We strive to help teens break through stereotypes, face insecurities, and help them grow beyond what they believe is possible. It’s never too early or too late to begin this journey of self-discovery and growth!

Some of the issues that we can help teens with are: anxiety, perfectionism, social media addiction, bullying, divorces, transitions, school related issues, cutting and self-harm, sexuality, disordered eating, anger management, suicidal thoughts and self-destructive behaviors.

In addition to individual therapy, we offer evidence-based DBT Skills Group for Teens. These groups are lead by trained psychotherapists and are highly effective in helping teens build coping skills to regulate emotions, improve realtionships, and decrease unwanted behaviors.

We also offer counseling and coaching for parents and families. You love your children more than anything in this world… But sometimes they drive you crazy! We help parents and their kids to implement best practices to have the best chance for success. Parenting is tough. But it doesn’t have to be SO tough. (In fact, it can even be FUN!) We work with the families to focus on strategies that help build their emotional currency and work through adversity.
