Do You Offer Online

We provide our services both in-office and virtually. Our online platform is secure and HIPAA compliant to meet the highest industry standards. If you are local and prefer coming into the office, we would love to see you. For others, location, work, school, family, schedules etc. get in the way, and the convenience of Telehealth is a better fit. We can expand and offer our services to all Colorado residents. Telehealth has been empirically shown to be as effective as in-office counseling, so you have an empowered choice. COVID Update: We are committed to our client’s and our staff’s health and wellbeing. Therefore, we adhere to taking extra measures and precautions to create safety in our offices, including extra time between sessions to limit unnecessary interactions, maintaining social distancing standards, disinfecting surfaces in-between every use and new clients, and ongoing cleanings with disinfectant. Our office building management is also adhering to all measures. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Do you offer anything that sets you apart from other practices?

Yes, we do. We offer in-depth knowledge and skills. We stay abreast on the latest research and are intensively trained in evidence based practices, interventions, and trauma-informed care. It can be difficult to find therapists with this level of training in these modalities. Interventions include: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Attachment Psychology to name a few. We also offer DBT Skills Groups for teens & adults, which are highly effective skill-based therapy group that truly change lives. We accept most insurance, which many, if not most practices, that are intensively trained in these ways do not. Our team meets at least weekly to consult and train in-house. We go the extra mile, and our team is well supported. We also regularly get consultation from other experts in the field. Each of our team members has areas they shine, and will happily work with you to find the right fit.

How do I pick the right counselor for me?

People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. We will work closely with you to find the best fit based on your needs. Our counselors handle a wide range of issues and offer a variety of evidence-based therapies and techniques. Everyone needs help now and then. We will help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing. If for any reason one of our counselors is not a fit, we are more than happy to help you find a better fit.

What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?

The difference is between someone who can do something, and someone who has the training and experience to do that same thing professionally. A licensed mental health professional is highly skilled and can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, counseling is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.” Lastly, if your situation provokes a great deal of negative emotion, and you’ve been confiding in a friend or family member, there is the risk that once you are feeling better you could start avoiding that person so you aren’t reminded of this difficult time in your life.

Do you take insurance?

We are in-network providers with BCBS, Tri-west, Medicare, & Medicaid. We are expanding this network over time, when appropriate. We do provide claims processing for our clients using out of network providers. If your plan is a PPO or provides coverage for out of network providers, we will submit your claims for you. Please call us @ 720.526.8102 to verify your insurance coverage with us.

Would if I don’t have insurance or do not want to use it?

Many clients don’t have or use insurance for mental health care. A few reasons include, when using insurance we are required to use a diagnosis, giving insurance control of records and level of care, and some clients do not want that. Additionally, some clients find that the cost of expensive insurance plans outweighs the costs of paying directly for the services. Regardless of reason, we are happy to answer any questions you have about cost, insurance, and payment.

Do you prescribe medication? Why shouldn’t I just take medication?

No we do not prescribe medication. Although we are happy to help you find someone who does. Medication can be effective but it alone cannot solve all issues. Sometimes medication is needed in conjunction with counseling. Our work together is designed to explore and unpack the problems you are experiencing and expand on your strengths that can help you accomplish your personal goals.

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. We tailor our therapeutic approach to your specific needs.

How long will it take?

Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place.

Do you have evening & weekend hours?

Yes, we can offer early morning, evening, and Saturday appointments when available for our clients. If your preferred time is not available, let us know and we will do whatever we can. If we can’t find you the preferred time, we can put you on a wait list for that time and let you know when it is available.

I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?

We am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success.
